I am an intensive care consultant at Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. I completed my PhD in 2015 and CCT in respiratory, general and intensive care medicine in the same year. I have a clinical and research interest in cardiogenic shock having trained at Royal Brompton and spent a fellowship year in Michigan, USA.
I lead the UK working group on cardiogenic shock, designed to improve pathways of care for these patients. I am working with the case mix programme and collaborators nationally and internationally to improve and harmonise registry data in cardiogenic shock although I’m not a data scientist. My research interest is the host response to cardiogenic shock and I am currently running a multi centre -omics study between the UK and Germany, in collaboration with Julian Knight’s lab in Oxford.
I have 3 children and my wife is a dermatologist. I’m a keen cricket fan and can often be found at Lords. @ICUDocAP
