Halinder Mangat, M.D., is an associate professor in the Department of Neurology and a neurocritical care specialist with The University of Kansas Health System. He joined KU Medical Center in 2021 after eight years on the faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.
Dual certified in internal medicine and neurology, Dr. Mangat spent two years as a research fellow in neurochemistry at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, and subsequently completed his fellowship in neurocritical care at Addenbrooke’s Hospital/Cambridge University Hospitals, UK. He also earned a master’s degree in public health for developing countries from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Dr. Mangat’s interests are in global neurotrauma, especially in low-middle income countries. He has worked for nearly a decade in a capacity building program in Tanzania. Additionally, he dedicates research time in advanced clinical neurovascular physiology monitoring techniques using invasive devices such as cerebral microdialysis and cerebral oximetry to understand early brain injury in the acutely injured brain.
