Jason Katz MD, MHS is a critical care and advanced heart failure/transplant cardiologist. After completing his training at Duke University, he joined the Division of Cardiology at the University of North Carolina where he was the healthcare system director of cardiovascular critical care, the director of the mechanical heart program, and the director of the cardiac intensive care unit. He more recently moved to Duke University where he is a tenured faculty member helping to lead cardiovascular critical care and mechanical circulatory support efforts. Dr. Katz is a clinical investigator whose work focuses on optimizing processes of care in the contemporary cardiac ICU and on developing best practices for the care of patients with durable left ventricular assist devices. He is currently a steering committee member for the multinational ARIES HM3 clinical trial and an executive steering committee member for the Critical Care Cardiology Trials Network (CCCTN). Dr. Katz is also an Associate Editor of the European Heart Journal, and has additional editorial roles for several other scientific journals in the cardiovascular and critical care space.
