Rob is a dual speciality trainee in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia. He has a background in natural science research prior to engaging in medical training. On completion of his final FRCA he undertook a Master’s in medical education, this resulted in a paradigm shift in his perspective on the construction of knowledge. Improving this understanding of how we as clinicians develop our expert knowledge has become his primary research focus. More recently he spent 21 months as a healthcare management consultant, looking at how management science approaches transformation and what, if anything, medicine can learn from these approaches. His ongoing research aim is to develop a structured methodological approach to team expertise augmentation within intensive care.
