RUPERT PEARSE

Rupert Pearse graduated in 1996 from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London, UK. He also completed much of his clinical training in the south-west Thames region. His clinical duties are based on the busy Adult Critical Care Unit at the Royal London Hospital where he oversees the care of patients with critical illnesses of various causes. In 2006, Rupert was appointed Senior Lecturer in Intensive Care Medicine at Queen Mary University of London and was promoted to Professor in 2014. He is an active member of several national and international societies for anaesthesia and intensive care medicine. He teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He leads the Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine Research Group. Rupert’s main research interest is in improving outcomes for patients following major surgery. Rupert leads or has led numerous large international studies and trials. He has experience in a wide range of research methods including translational laboratory and clinical research, multi-centre observational and randomised trials and large epidemiological studies.
