SAIJU JACOB

Dr Saiju Jacob is a Consultant Neurologist and Neuroimmunologist and currently the Clinical Service Lead for Neurology at the University Hospitals Birmingham, UK. He trained in London, Birmingham and Oxford and has done a fellowship in Neuroimmunology under the guidance of Prof Angela Vincent at the University of Oxford. His research was primarily on the pathophysiology of seronegative myasthenia gravis with particular reference to the role of complement pathway. Dr Jacob currently is the Clinical Lead for the Neuroimmunology laboratories at the University of Birmingham and is involved in several international trials in the field of autoimmune neurological diseases including myasthenia gravis, transverse myelitis, NMO, autoimmune encephalitis etc.

He runs a weekly clinic each for neuromuscular diseases and neuroimmunology which caters for patients regionally and nationally. He chairs the Myasthenia Gravis Special Interest Group at the national Association of British Neurology meetings and is also the Training Programme Director for Neurology at the West Midlands Deanery. He is a reviewer for several international journals and has authored several articles/editorials in various journals.
