SARAH WALLACE
Sarah is Consultant Speech and Language Therapist in critical care at Wythenshawe hospital in
Manchester and is the SLT lead for the National Tracheostomy Safety Project. Sarah is also a
member of the Intensive Care Society National Rehabilitation Collaborative, the AHP PAG and the
represents the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) as strategic partner on ICS
Council. As an RCSLT Specialist Advisor she holds national leadership roles in FEES, the COVID-19
Advisory group, the Tracheostomy Clinical Excellence Network and the Global SLT Dysphagia group
and has contributed to national and international policies and guidelines, including GPICS. Her
research on laryngeal complications following intubation and tracheostomy in critical care have led
to numerous publications and international presentations. Sarah has worked in Singapore,
Melbourne and Grenada (West Indies) and volunteers for an NGO in Cambodia in public hospitals.
She was awarded an OBE in 2020 for services to critical care and the NHS.
