Workforce: Skillset or Badge?


Critical care workforce provision is at its most fragile. We have large numbers of staff from all clinical groups leaving the specialty and choosing a different path if not retiring all together.

How can we staff the future intensive care unit?  How do we train people, and retain them in such difficult times.

The workforce theme will look at skills based rostering; discuss training needs and competency assessments. It will consider staffing models, hub and spoke working, telemedicine and use of AI at the coal face.

Who should be part of the bedside care team? Is GPICS fit for purpose?

We will also ask our learned societies and standard setters to describe their role, their vision and their accountability.
